Why we supported it

Tiny Mic Story imagines a world where every child grows up with genuine confidence—confidence in their abilities and confidence in who they are. In this world, children aren't held back by shyness or fear of expression, but instead have the tools and community support to share their stories, creativity, and authentic selves with joy and ease.

Tiny Mic Story is bringing that vision to life. Originally a volunteer-led project called Tiny Monkey Stage, it has evolved into an award-winning methodology that uses storytelling as a vehicle for building confidence in children ages 7-14. Its goal is to help children worldwide grow up in communities that foster confidence, creativity, and emotional intelligence—transforming shy, hesitant kids into self-assured storytellers who can express themselves in all areas of life.

Problem:

Many children struggle with lack of confidence and difficulty expressing themselves. Parents see their children holding back, unable to open up or share what's inside them, but often don't know how to help. Traditional education focuses on academic skills while overlooking the fundamental confidence and communication abilities that children need to thrive. Without structured support, many kids carry self-doubt and fear of expression into adulthood, limiting their potential and happiness.

Root Cause:

Children lack accessible, proven methods to build genuine confidence and self-expression skills in a supportive environment. Parents want to help but need practical tools and frameworks. The traditional education system doesn't prioritize confidence-building or provide regular opportunities for children to practice sharing their voices in safe, encouraging spaces. Tiny Mic Story seeks to change that. Through its self-paced online course for parents and children, based on over 3,000 kids' experiences at 250+ open-mic events, it provides a gamified, structured approach to storytelling that makes confidence-building fun and accessible. By teaching children to find stories in everyday life and giving them a framework to share those stories, Tiny Mic Story helps kids transform not just their speaking abilities, but their overall confidence in who they are and what they have to offer the world.
